Lead Intelligent Equipment (hereinafter referred to as “LEAD”) has officially released its 2024 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, providing a comprehensive overview of the company’s initiatives and achievements across ESG domains. This marks the fifth consecutive year that LEAD has voluntarily disclosed its sustainability practices, underscoring the vital role that new energy equipment companies play in the global carbon neutrality movement.
Over the past year, LEAD’s ESG management system has received significant recognition from global capital markets and rating agencies. The company’s S&P Global ESG score rose to 41, earning it a spot in the 2025 China Edition of the Sustainability Yearbook. LEAD also received a “B” rating from CDP for both climate change and water security disclosures, and maintained a top-tier A-level information disclosure rating from the Shenzhen Stock Exchange for the sixth consecutive year. Further distinguishing itself, the company garnered multiple accolades, including the ESG Innovation Award from Observer Network, the Green Supply Chain Management Award from Yicai (China Business Network), and inclusion in both the Fortune China Top 50 Tech Companies and LinkedIn’s Emerging Global Employers list—testament to its leading capabilities in both technology and sustainability.
Driving Green Transformation Through Smart Manufacturing
Guided by China’s dual carbon goals, LEAD continues to reduce carbon emissions through technological innovation and scientific management. As the first company in China’s new energy equipment sector to announce a carbon neutrality target, LEAD has committed to peaking Scope 1 and 2 emissions from its core operations by the end of 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality in these areas by the end of 2035. To date, the company has completed carbon footprint assessments for three core products, with its lithium-ion battery cell cutting & stacking machine and double-layer coating machine both certified under ISO 14067. In parallel, LEAD is continuously optimizing its energy structure: distributed photovoltaic projects are accelerating at its domestic manufacturing bases—realizing both economic and environmental benefits.
In fulfilling its social responsibilities, LEAD actively supports education and rural revitalization in alignment with the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. The company has established the “Wang Yanqing Scholarship” at six universities to nurture and empower outstanding students. In rural areas, LEAD has launched long-term assistance programs for left-behind and underprivileged children in Yichuan, Yan’an, helping ensure their continued access to education. At the local level, LEAD has introduced elderly care initiatives in Wuxi communities to improve the safety and well-being of senior residents. Through these diverse public welfare efforts, LEAD reinforces its corporate citizenship and contributes meaningfully to building a more inclusive and sustainable society.
Quality and Innovation as Cornerstones of Growth
Adhering to its core value of “customer-centricity and value creation,” LEAD has established a full-value-chain service system driven by strong R&D capabilities and proprietary technologies. In 2024, R&D personnel made up 30.03% of the workforce, and R&D investment accounted for 14.14% of total revenue. The company holds 2,830 authorized patents, with several products recognized as High-Tech Products in Jiangsu Province, China.
LEAD has also obtained Level 3 certification for Innovation and Intellectual Property Management under ISO 56005, demonstrating its excellence in IP governance. The company remains committed to developing environmentally friendly products that help downstream customers reduce pollution, energy consumption, and carbon emissions throughout the equipment lifecycle.
“New energy equipment manufacturers are a key driving force in the global energy transition,” said Wang Yanqing, Chairman of LEAD Group. “As a global leader in this field, LEAD is promoting economic, social, and environmental progress through robust ESG practices, delivering innovative ‘Intelligent Manufacturing in China’ solutions. Looking ahead, we will continue to lead through innovation, deepen our smart manufacturing capabilities, and collaborate with upstream and downstream partners to build a green ecosystem—contributing to a more sustainable global energy future.”
